Dear [name]
Thank you for contacting Wellcome Collection.
The Library provides the following photographic services:
Photography of specific pages or parts of an item in the collections
Cover-to-cover photography of entire books and other materials
Requests will only be processed provided an item is in good physical condition. For materials which are fragile, rare, out of print and difficult to replace, the Digitisation and Photography teams may be unable to complete your order and will advise as required.
Before you request photography, please check the Collections pages to see if the item you wish to have reproduced has been digitised. Type the title of the item or collection in the search box on the homepage and then refine your search results under location on the left-hand side to ‘online’. If the item/collection’s catalogue record contains a ‘view online’ button, a digital format is available, free to view and download (in pdf or select images in jpeg/pdf format).
All digital content has been assigned a Creative Commons licence which will inform usage of the material. Select the ‘more information’ tab to the right of the digital viewer after you have clicked on the ‘view online’ link in the catalogue record. Scroll down until you can view the copyright/licence details.
The Creative Commons licence applied is detailed along with the credit acknowledgement to use with each item. For any digital content which has a Creative Commons, Public Domain licence, there is no need to include any credit as such materials are free of any known restrictions under copyright law. However, please also credit Wellcome Collection as the source of the image whatever the copyright status.
If there is no digital format available please see the copying and imaging request guidelines. You can request new photography by completing the online scanning and photography form. The usual turnaround time for photography is 4 weeks and if there are any issues, the Digitisation team will contact you.
I hope this helps with your request,
Yours sincerely,
