Referencing
The enquirer should refer to the style guide used by their institution or publication, as these vary. Our general advice would be to include the following information:
Referencing an archive:
Title or description of item as stated in the catalogue [and date?] The unique reference number of the item The name of the Collection as stated in the catalogue Acknowledgement of the Wellcome Collection should also be included.
e.g.
Printed âProposals for a state-aided midwifery service In England and Walesâ, by the Association for Promoting the Training and Supply of Midwivesâ,1918, SA/QNI/H.11/1, Queenâs Nursing Institute, Wellcome Collection.
Referencing a Visual item:
Name of creator Date Title as stated in the catalogue Medium Wellcome Collection Library No. â this is a unique identification number, the i number listed in the âCite asâ field (524 field in Sierra) e.g. JoâŻSpence. 1982.âŻPropertyâŻofâŻJoâŻSpence? [Photograph]. Wellcome Collection: Library no. 3049393i
