Following approval of a safeguarded access application form, the following procedure is used for facilitation of access:
Access is by appointment, with an appropriate time and date agreed in advance. If the researcher is not already a member of the library, please direct them to the library membership page on the .
Access must be supervised by a member of the Collections Information team in one of the library study rooms (booked in advance). A study room is used as it can provide a private space that ensures the material cannot be viewed by others. In the event that an alternative room needs to be used, it must achieve the same standard of privacy.
All material should be kept within its folder. Retrieval of material does not require staff to view the items.
Terms of access are confirmed on arrival:
No photographs or copies are to be made of the item, including sketches or diagrams.
Mobile phones with a camera or other recording equipment are not permitted.
Items are bought to the individual once seated.
