Image of uncatalogued material

As a minimum requirement of the SPECTRUM inventory standard, each object or group of objects must have a brief description (or image).

If you discover an uncatalogued item that is difficult to create a description for i.e. you cannot interpret the work to create a description (unknown language/script, abstract image etc.) you can take a picture of it and attach the image as a .jpg to the record in Quickbase.

You may also wish to take an image if you think it will support identification more broadly (i.e. to complement the description recorded).

Under 'reports & charts' there is a saved report titled 'Show me the pix!' which allows you to see all the records that have an image attached in the artworks table.

Adding .jpg images to QB

In the edit function of the individual record you want to attach an image to, you will see there is a field titled 'image of uncatalogued material' and you can choose a file to upload. Once you have selected the image and click 'save' this will be attached to the record.

Standardisation

As a rule, if you are saving .jpg images to QB, please ensure the metadata reflects the temporary number, it should be standardised to 'INV_YEAR_No' as in the screengrab below.
