Location table

Documenting where in the organisation a visual item is located.

The location table is linked to both the artworks and archive tables in QB. It currently documents two location authorities as we are in the midst of these being changed and updated in our organisation's location concordance and related stores.

Both authorities are coded to location storage areas (including onsite and offsite stores) where visual material can be found. i.e. 183;4.39 in the new authority relates to the solander store, where material in the old authority is coded to β€˜S’.

A location must exist or be created in the location table for us to link an item to a location in the artworks/archive datasets. The location table also allows us to capture housing types, the weight of containers and you can see the percentage of catalogued/uncatalogued material at a glance. We can also document overfull boxes in order to prioritise future storage projects, alongside signposting 'empty' locations for future storage planning.
