Metadata Status and Comments
Metadata status
Enhancement - With this option we can flag objects with particularly sparse records, for which we believe more information could be added based on what we see on the actual objects or as a result of further research. Updates on Sierra can be done as part of Phase 2 or at Cataloguing phase.
Correction - We will select this option if we consider the record in need of any sort of amendment on Sierra (erroneous description, typos etc., incorrect printmaking technique). Updates on Sierra can be done as part of Phase 2.
Creation - This is an automated condition and won’t be available on the pick list. It applies to all material not on catalogue and will only show in the final status field.
Metadata comments
This field can be used to add further detail about the type of correction or enhancement we wish to carry out. Please try to keep this as brief as possible but clear at the same time. It is important that we are able to carry out some of the work of enhancement and correction remotely, so a simple but explanatory description is recommended.
If you find items that are linked on Sierra, please note this in the field, especially if the item cannot be retrieved individually. i.e. it is contained in an album. Please also note here, when items have been catalogued with unique numbers but share a mount, or sheet.
You can also note if items need linking on Sierra. i.e. 20725i, 20726i, 20796i, 20727i, 20798i and 20800i are bound together and cannot be retrieved individually.
