Definition

Provides access to the Work by means of subjects (or subject identifiers) that describe the content of the Work (i.e. what the Work is about) (FIAF 1.4.3).

Where to find the information

This will best be found by watching or listening to the content of the item; it may also be discernible from the item and its packaging, but this may not always give a full picture of what the item is about.

For the same reason, it will usually be necessary to watch/listen to at least a reasonable sample of the content to have an accurate sense of the subject matter. Referring to Library of Congress and/or MeSH subject headings may help.
