Rules

  • If an item is part of an actual series, like BBC Horizon, then add a series statement. Where episodes have their own individual titles, these may be used as preferred titles for the individual works, but the series title should also be indicated.

  • If it is part of a local series, such as a series of conference session recordings in an archive, then create individual item records within a series in CALM and record the series information in the parent level record.

  • For a series of items that make up a single intellectual work (such as a single oral history interview that extends over multiple tapes), consider cataloguing as a single item in CALM.

  • Use cataloguer's judgement when grouping items, e.g. for a recording of a conference over several days, consider grouping the items together by day, considering how best to reflect the original order and how easy the items will be to retrieve.
