Previous Number

Definition

Wellcome additional element. Not covered in FIAF. Used to record previous number or other identifier of the item (either assigned by us or by the donor, where it has been transferred to us). This enables the full custodial history of the item to be recorded.

Where to find the information

Previous references will be recorded on the item or its packaging, and/or sometimes on accompanying documentation. Where it is a previous number assigned by us, this may be recorded in the catalogue record, where one exists.
