How to determine Original Duration?

Information can be found on either:

• the container

• accompanying material

• wrapper of metadata in a digital file

• reported by authoritative secondary sources such as filmographies, censorship visas, etc

Rules

• if duration is taken from container is correct, double check this information is correct by watching/listening to item

• if information on the container is incorrect, record the ACTUAL time and note in description that written time on container was incorrect

• Note any substantial (longer than 30 seconds?) periods of blank/silence in description field if this is sandwiched between periods of content

• Do not include blank/silence in this field, note this in description (e.g. if content is 30 minutes long, and there is 20 minutes of silence at the end, this would be recorded as '00:30:00' with a note in the description highlighting the last 20 minutes is blank/silent.
