EPB Binding [obsolete collection]
A collection with an historic purpose but no current function. According to older documents 'The category originally derives from the period when only pre-1641 material was automatically in secure storage'. This then became a small collection of decorative bindings that the Library did not want on the open shelves.

As the majority of earlier and specialist material in Wellcome is currently in secure closed stores, this 'collection' no longer worked. The team decided to inventory the items before subsuming them into the main sequences. Similar to other, now obsolete, collections, any former shelfmarks and the collection name were added as former locations.

Three of the items were moved to the human remains cupboard. One bound in human skin and two suspected human-skin bindings (although one is suggested to have a pig intestine/historic condom as a binding rather than human skin).
