Metadata content

Catalogue records are living documents. There is no definitive record, the aim is to add information and amend and contextualise the data as new knowledge comes to light.

To ensure objects can be identified and found, we aim to create a Minimum Viable (Inventory) record, with metadata content that meets the Spectrum standard.

To improve the discoverability of objects and ensure they can be ordered, MVR records need to be enhanced to a Basic level, where the main data types are included in a record, with the understanding further information can be added later.

Collection Development would like to reach a point where no new acquisitions are seen as 'uncatalogued' - meaning CI should aim to create a Basic record in a timely manner.
