🔎What is in scope?
The archives inventory will cover all uncatalogued or partly catalogued accessions held within the accessions database of CALM. It will exclude any accessions marked as 'in progress', 'inactive' or 'dormant'. This is approximately 840 individual accessions in total.
The bulk of uncatalogued material is stored offsite, with some already extracted born-digital or audio-visual material held in the basement, sub-basement or cold store onsite.
Aims of the inventory
To provide a box level description for all uncatalogued accessions to a consistent and agreed minimum standard.
To develop our practice and workflows to ensure we create and/or maintain consistent information, terminology and procedures across Collections Information and Collections Development.
To extract and move vulnerable formats to onsite storage.
To repackage poorly or inadequately boxed material.
To improve the accuracy and consistency of information held within the Deepstore Inventory, including 'perming out' boxes no longer held offsite as a result of cataloguing or reboxing.
