Lightboxes

We're aware that creation and sharing of lightboxes involves longer processes than in Tandem Vault. We have fed this back to MediaGraph and are hoping for refinements in the near future.

Lightboxes live under the My Projects tab on the left of the screen, underneath Libraries.

Please note: when downloading from a lightbox sent to you there may be a message displayed saying "Request Access" next to the file size options. Please ignore this and press download. (This is a redundant feature for us and the text has appeared in a recent update).

Creating a new Lightbox

To create a lightbox of all images in a collection, find the collection in the Libraries hierarchy, hover over the 'i' symbol next to the collection name, and then press Duplicate to Lightbox

Then click OK

Your lightbox will appear in the My Projects tab

To create a Lightbox of multiple images but not a complete collection, select the images you want to add and click the cog icon at the top of the page. Choose Add to Lightbox from the drop down menu.

On the Lightbox pop up, press the + button and choose New Lightbox.

On the New Lightbox panel, name your lightbox and click Save.

Your new lightbox will now be in the list on the Lightbox pop-up. Select the title of the Lightbox and click Submit. On the "Are you sure?" pop up message, click OK. Then your assets will be added to the new Lightbox.

If you click the Refresh button under My Projects, you will now see that your new lightbox has been populated with your chosen assets.

Adding to an existing Lightbox

To add images to an existing Lightbox, select the images you want to add and click the cog icon at the top of the page. Choose Add to Lightbox from the drop down menu.

Select the title of the Lightbox and click Submit. On the "Are you sure?" pop up message, click OK. Then your assets will be added to the new Lightbox.

If you click the Refresh button under My Projects, you will now see that your new lightbox has been populated with your chosen assets.

Sharing a Lightbox internally and externally

Please note: images for orders made via the digitisation service are not visible to staff unless a lightbox link is sent by the Image Services Manager.

If you need to share any images from these lightboxes with someone else, you can send the link you were provided with which enables viewing/ downloading permissions internally and externally.

You cannot use images from within a digitisation order lightbox to create a new lightbox because these images would not otherwise be visible to you.

If you require a new lightbox of digitisation order images, please contact the Image Service Manager.

To share your lightbox, click the 'i' icon next to the lightbox name, then click the Manage cog in the top left of the pop up box

To share externally read on, to share internally skip this next step and move on to 'Share Links'

Navigate down to Lightbox Member Permissions.

Tick Override Member Permissions, you will usually want to untick Watermark All Image and Videos, and select Images and Video- View/ Download Original File from the dropdown list, unless there is an obvious need to provide more restricted access to images

Share Links

Navigate down to Share Links, and click Create New Share Link

Edit the settings as necessary, which will most commonly be to remove the watermark and enable downloads in Full Resolution.

To share the lightbox, click the copy button at the end of the link address and this can be pasted anywhere such as in an email or Slack channel

Once you have made any required changes, press the Update button in the bottom right.
