Brief History of the Collection (WIP)

How the material was collected and dispersed over the decades.

Collecting started in the 1890s with new acquisitions recorded in the Library Accession Registers. After 2000, books were accessioned directly on the collection management system. More information can be found on the Transcribe Wellcome page.

Number of disposals over the years, including sales in the 1940s and 1960s and the targeted disposal of 'duplicates' (multiple copies) when the MSL collection was acquired in 1984.
