Dating EPB/EPH items
This resource was assembled during the EPH Pharmacy Labels inventory to aid in dating materials with no/limited provenance. It is sometimes possible to narrow down potential date ranges using clues from the content of Ephemera and other EPB items such as the format of postcodes, telephone numbers, whether a monarch is mentioned, etc. This is only a rough guide and hasn't been exhaustively checked for accuracy, so it's best to confirm suspected date ranges by other means where possible!
There is also a digitised copy available on the Internet Archive of The Registers of Pharmaceutical Chemists and Druggists here. This version was published in 1919 and shows the dates on which a pharmacist was registered as well as where they live, which can be helpful in giving a terminus post quem for a label or company, or for verifying that you're looking at the right pharmacist/pharmacy. It also includes some pharmacists in British colonies like India, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
