Science Museum Departments

Science Museum Department numbers from 1969. In the early 1970s Depts 3 and 5 were merged as Dept 5 and the Dept 3 number was subsequently allocated to Medicine.

Dept 1: Physics;

Dept 2: Chemistry;

Dept 3: Land Transport, Aeronautics and Circulation; (circulate devised and built portable exhibitions which were lent out to other museums around the country)

Dept 4: Electrical Engineering & Communications;

Dept 5: Water Transport & Mining;

Dept 6: Mechanical & Civil Engineering;

Dept 7: Astronomy & Geophysics;

Dept 8: Museum Services.
