# Searching for records

You can do a basic search for keyword, title, author, ISBN, ISSN or OCLC number in the sidebar under **Metadata:**

In **Advanced Search** you can construct a more complex for multiple terms including year, subject, language, language of cataloguing etc.:

Results will show in a list with a range of filters on the left-hand side which you can use to narrow down your choices. You can also see whether the item is held by Wellcome, the level of cataloguing (full or minimum) and the language of cataloguing:

You can view a more compact results list by selecting **View Condensed Search Results**:

To start editing a record, you can click on the title of the item or on the **Edit** button. This will open the record in a new tab (within Worldshare Record Manager) and you can navigate back to your search list on the left-hand sidebar:
