## 903 Other Identifier - Public (R)

**903** records previous identifiers and other numbers for an object.

It records numbers that are/were publicly available (or have the potential to be - ie Inventory numbers). The numbers will be visible on the public catalogue.&#x20;

For items from the Visual & Material Culture Collection remove the number from the **001** field if adding to 903.\
\
Use **`|b`** to explain the type of number\
Copy **`|b`** from the examples below to ensure consistency\
Use **`|3`** for materials specified - i.e. numbers referring to a specific copy, explains which copy or part of an item the other number refers to. This subfield only needs to be used if the bib relates to multiple items but the other number only applies to specific items (e.g. if an EPB and a modern book are on the same bib and only the EPB has another number).

Add examples of other number types to the list below as necessary.&#x20;

{% endhint %}

## 904 Other Identifier - Private (R)

They include: WELL numbers (used by the Registrars in Mimsy), PIP numbers (allocated during a previous Inventory project), Conservation numbers

Use **`|b`** to explain the type of number\
Copy **`|b`** from the examples below to ensure consistency\
Use **`|3`** for materials specified - i.e. for identifiers referring to a specific copy or part number. Explains which copy or part of an item the previous number refers to.\

{% endhint %}

Use [**856**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/8xx#id-856-electronic-location-and-access-r) for non-local link

## 962 Link to external file (Wellcome current, created by Media Manager)

{% hint style="warning" %}
This field is managed in the Media Manager function in Sierra. There is further information in Enquiries section: [Using the media function to delete (/edit/create) image links in 962 field](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/bibliographic-record/broken-reference)
{% endhint %}

From a bibliographic record -> Go -> Media

<figure><img src="https://2382335647-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F79YakY10O8eOK3OTTrfT%2Fuploads%2FQXgVhVgamU0UXFKNDbY8%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=d804943d-1afd-4650-abb6-b31273d2b63c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The :file\_folder:menu on the side is where images are stored.&#x20;

It is easier/more straightforward to ADD images using a [**089**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/0xx#id-089-image-reference-number-copy-photograph-number-wellcome-current) field instead of adding a media file.

If you need to REMOVE an incorrect image from a **962**:

1. Identify the file on the left that contains the reference for the image you'd like to remove (double click to open the :open\_file\_folder: then click on the URL - the reference number will be identifiable in the URL that appears on the right:

<figure><img src="https://2382335647-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F79YakY10O8eOK3OTTrfT%2Fuploads%2FaC3D9TdCLq10g5Kc1rbB%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=13fbb501-fb75-4b30-99f0-82de8cc140a1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. Right click on URL 1, then click Remove -> Save

The existence of this field can create record merging (and removal can break a merge)
