# 7XX

Fields 700-711 are used to add names that are not included in a [**1XX**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/bibliographic-record/1xx) field, either because there is already a main entry name in a **1XX** or because they are not the creator.

## Identifying the added entry name <a href="#identifying-the-main-entry-name" id="identifying-the-main-entry-name"></a>

See [Identifying the main entry name](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/1xx#identifying-the-main-entry-name) in **1XX** for details on how to identify a main entry vs added entry name, especially for identifying entry points for Visual and Material Culture.

## Identifying the correct form of name <a href="#identifying-the-correct-form-of-name" id="identifying-the-correct-form-of-name"></a>

Use a [Library of Congress Name Authority entry](https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names.html) where possible.

If there is no LC entry, check the Wellcome catalogue for existing entries for the same person.

If there are no existing entries, enter the name following LC conventions (see construction and subfields below). Add life dates if known (reliable sources include Getty ULAN and VIAF).

If more than one form of name is in use, then use the most commonly used form.

Include relator terms in **`|e`** ([**700**](#id-700-added-entry-personal-name-r), [**710**](#id-710-added-entry-corporate-name-r)) or **`|j`** ([**711**](#id-711-added-entry-meeting-name-r)) to explain the relationship of the person, organisation or meeting to the item being described. **`|e`** and **`|j`** can be repeated if more than one term is relevant. Relator terms are taken from the [MARC Code list for Relators](https://www.loc.gov/marc/relators/relaterm.html). We also use some local relator terms, particularly **`|e`**&#x7A;inester.

## [700](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/700.html) Added entry - Personal name (R)

**Indicators**&#x20;

The majority of names will be entered under the Surname first, indicator 1 = **`1`**.

For people entered under a single name, indicator 1 = **`0`**.

**Construction**&#x20;

For names that do not have an LC authority, **`|c`** and **`|d`** can be included if relevant or known.

If adding a name that only relates to the specific item in our collection (e.g. a donor or former owner), add **|5**UkLW to the end of the field.

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**700 1**</mark>Brown, Christopher<mark style="background-color:blue;">**|q**</mark>(Christopher B.)<mark style="background-color:blue;">**,|e**</mark>author.

{% endhint %}

## [710](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/710.html) Added entry - Corporate name (R)

**Indicators**

Most corporate names will be entered in direct order, indicator 1 = **`2`**.

For names entered under a place name (e.g. government departments), indicator 1 = **`1`**.

**Construction**

Use **`|b`** to give names of subordinate units of organisations.

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**7101**</mark> United States<mark style="background-color:blue;">**.|b**</mark>Department of Health and Human Services<mark style="background-color:blue;">**,|e**</mark>issuing body.

{% endhint %}

## [711](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/711.html) Added entry - Meeting name (R)

**Indicators**

Most meeting names will be entered in direct order, indicator 1 = **`2`**.

For names entered under a place name, indicator 1 = **`1`**.

**Construction**

Use **`|n`**, **`|d`** and **`|c`** to give details of the number, date and location of meetings or conferences.

{% endhint %}

## 759 Project identifier

Use this field to identify items where Wellcome Trust/Collection has had official involvement, e.g. publisher, contributor, funder, etc.

The codes are:

* `hcwtrust` (for hard copy material related to Wellcome in some way)
* `elwtrust` (for electronic materials, including PDFs, related to Wellcome in some way)
* `digmiro` (for [Suppressing a Miro image if it has been re-ingested through Goobi](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/bibliographic-record/broken-reference))

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**759**</mark>  hcwtrust

<mark style="background-color:blue;">**759**</mark>  elwtrust

<mark style="background-color:blue;">**759**</mark>  digmiro

## Linking fields

The following fields can be used to create links between items based on record control numbers.

**Indicators**

Unless otherwise stated, indicators in these fields should be **`08`**

**Construction**

Unless otherwise stated, use **`|i`** to provide a display note explaining the relationship of the additional item. Use **`|a`**, **`|t`, `|d` and `|z`** to provide details of the main entry, title, publication and ISBN of the item.&#x20;

Use **`|w`** to provide the record number of the additional item. Begin the field with the [MARC code for the organisation](https://www.loc.gov/marc/organizations/) in brackets (usually **`(OCoLC)`** for OCLC or **`(UkLW)`** for Wellcome). This field can be repeated to give both the OCLC record control number and the Sierra record control number.

## [770](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/770.html) Supplement/special issue entry (in parent record) (R)

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Journals" %}
Use this field to link to a supplement or special issue cataloguing separately relating to the item.

Also add a supplement note in [**525**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/5xx#id-525-supplement-note-r).

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**77008|i**</mark>Supplement (work)<mark style="background-color:blue;">**:|a**</mark>Humpty Dumpty<mark style="background-color:blue;">**.|t**</mark>The little psychology comic book<mark style="background-color:blue;">.</mark><mark style="background-color:blue;">**|w**</mark>(UkLW)b33130978
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## [772](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/772.html) Supplement parent entry (in child record) (R)

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Journals" %}
Use this field if the item is a supplement or special issue catalogued separately to link it to the main title.

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**77208|i**</mark>Supplement to (work)<mark style="background-color:blue;">**:|a**</mark>Humpty Dumpty<mark style="background-color:blue;">**.|w**</mark>(UkLW)b33131302

This field is used in combination with the [**774**](#id-774-constituent-item-entry-r) to make a hierarchical relationship between two records. The **773** goes in the child record to link it to the parent record.

If there is no **774** in the parent record, the child records will display as a series on wellcomecollection.org.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Books" %}
Historically this field was used to link individually catalogued chapters and reprints to the item they came from.

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:blue;">**77300**</mark>Fayrer, Joseph, Sir, 1824-1907<mark style="background-color:blue;">**.|t**</mark>\[Addresses and papers]<mark style="background-color:blue;">**|d**</mark>\[1863-1889]<mark style="background-color:blue;">**|w**</mark>(OCoLC)18233655

{% endhint %}

## [776](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/776.html) Additional physical form entry (R)

Use this field to link different physical forms of the same item (e.g. electronic and print versions of a book).

{% hint style="warning" %}
If this field comes through when importing a record (e.g. when copy cataloguing) but we **do not hold** the additional form, delete the field
{% endhint %}

## [780](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/780.html) Preceding entry (R)

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Journals" %}
Use this field to link a journal record to a preceding entry (e.g. if a title changes significantly or two journals merge).

**Indicators**

The first indicator changes depending on whether or not a display note could be generated from the field. It will usually be **`0`**. If it is **`1`** there should be a [**530**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/5xx#id-530-additional-physical-form-available-note-r) or [**580**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/5xx#id-580-linking-entry-complexity-note-r) with a note explaining the relationship.

The second indicator specifies the type of relationship between this record and the preceding entry:

**`0`** - Continues

**`1`** - Continues in part

**`2`** - Supersedes

**`3`** - Supersedes in part

**`4`** - Formed by the union of ... and ... (NB each title that merged should have its own **780**)

**`5`** - Absorbed

**`6`** - Absorbed in part

**`7`** - Separated from

**Construction**

If the preceding entry record has a main entry (i.e. a [**1XX**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/bibliographic-record/1xx) field) this should go in **`|a`** at the start of the record.

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## [785](https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/785.html) Succeeding entry (R)

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Journals" %}
Use this field to link a journal record to a succeeding entry (e.g. if there has been significant title change or it merges with another journal).

**Indicators**

The first indicator changes depending on whether or not a display note could be generated from the field. It will usually be 0. If it is 1 there should be a [**530**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/5xx#id-530-additional-physical-form-available-note-r) or [**580**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/5xx#id-580-linking-entry-complexity-note-r) with a note explaining the relationship.

The second indicator specifies the type of relationship between this record and the preceding entry:

**`0`** - Continued by

**`1`** - Continued in part by

**`2`** - Superseded by

**`3`** - Superseded in part by

**`7`** - Merged with ... to form ... (NB each title will need its own **785**)

**`8`** - Changed back to

**Construction**

If the preceding entry record has a main entry (i.e. a [**1XX**](https://docs.wellcomecollection.org/library-cataloguing/9yMHsFGBXS9DDRGtdmSE/bibliographic-record/1xx) field) this should go in **`|a`** at the start of the record.
